A Peak Beauty guide
The Sculptra Guide
Everything you need to know before you rebuild your collagen
Before you start
A note before you start
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed something shifting. Maybe your face looks a little more tired than you feel. Maybe your temples look hollow in photos, or your makeup sits differently than it used to. You don’t want to look “done.” You just want to look like you again.
That’s exactly what Sculptra is for.
Sculptra isn’t about adding something new to your face. It’s about helping your skin rebuild what time has quietly taken away: your own collagen. Results come in gradually, so people notice you look rested and healthy, not that you “had something done.”
We’ve treated thousands of Sculptra patients and have been injecting it for close to a decade. We also train other providers on it. This guide is everything we’d tell you if you were sitting in our chair for a consultation, so you can decide with confidence.
— Kenz and the Peak Beauty team
What Sculptra is
Sculptra isn’t filler. It’s your own collagen, rebuilt.
Most injectables add volume the moment they go in. Sculptra works differently. It’s a biostimulator: a treatment that signals your skin to make more of its own collagen. The product itself is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material your body gradually and naturally absorbs. What stays behind is new collagen that’s 100% you.
By your mid-20s, your body starts making about 1% less collagen every year. That’s why faces lose structure slowly: hollow temples, flatter cheeks, softer jawlines, skin that looks thinner. Sculptra goes after the cause, not just the symptom. [Kenz to confirm the 1% stat is one she’s comfortable citing]
Sculptra vs. filler at a glance
| Compared | Sculptra | Hyaluronic acid filler |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | Stimulates your own collagen | Adds volume with a gel |
| When you see it | Gradually, over 2–3 months | Right away |
| How long it lasts | Up to 2 years or more | About 6–18 months, by area |
| What it looks like | Rested, healthier skin and structure | Defined, contoured features |
| Best for | Overall volume loss, skin quality, prevention | Lips, chin, precise contouring |
The Peak take: It’s not either/or. Many of our patients do both in the same visit: filler for instant shape, Sculptra for long-term structure, and Botox for smoothing. Instant results now, plus a stronger foundation later.
How it works
The slow build is the whole point.
Sculptra is a series, not a single appointment. Most patients do 2–3 sessions spaced about 4–6 weeks apart. Each session adds to the collagen your skin is already building. [Kenz to confirm typical session count and spacing at Peak]
Your results timeline
- Treatment day. You’ll look a little fuller right away. That’s water from mixing the product, and it fades within a few days. Don’t judge your result yet.
- Weeks 1–4. Things look like they did before. Underneath, your skin has started building collagen.
- Months 2–3. Friends start telling you that you look rested. Skin looks firmer and healthier, and structure returns to hollow areas.
- Months 3–6. Results reach their peak after your series is complete.
- Up to 2 years and beyond. Your new collagen stays. Most patients maintain with one session about once a year.
Where we use it at Peak: temples, cheeks (the hollow under the cheekbone), jawline, smile lines, and the fine “radial” lines that show up on the cheeks when you smile.
Why gradual is a good thing: Nobody wakes up looking different overnight, so nobody asks what you had done. They just notice you look great.
Are you a candidate?
Sculptra might be for you if…
- Your face looks more tired or hollow than you feel, especially in photos.
- You’ve noticed hollowing at your temples or under your cheekbones.
- Your jawline isn’t as defined as it used to be.
- Your skin looks thinner, crepey, or less firm.
- You’ve had filler before and felt it looked “puffy” or too much.
- You want results that look natural and build gradually.
- You’d rather prevent aging than chase it later. (Many of our patients start in their 30s.)
- You’re thinking long-term and are happy with a 2–3 visit plan.
Sculptra may not be right for you right now if…
- You’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have an active skin infection or breakout in the area being treated.
- You have a history of keloids or raised scarring.
- You need a big change before an event in the next few weeks. (We’ll suggest a faster option.)
- You’re looking for lip volume or sharp contouring in one specific spot. Filler is usually better for that.
Some health conditions and medications need a quick review first, so share your full history at your consult. [Kenz to confirm final contraindication list]

Treatment day and aftercare
What your appointment actually feels like.
Before your visit
- Avoid blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and alcohol for a few days if your doctor says it’s okay. This lowers bruising.
- Come with a clean face, or plan to remove makeup when you arrive.
- Bring your questions. Nothing is too small to ask.
During your first visit (about 90 minutes) [Kenz to confirm]
- Consultation and photos. We look at your whole face, not just one area.
- Numbing. Sculptra is mixed with lidocaine, and most patients describe it as pressure, not pain.
- Treatment. Small, precise injections placed deep where collagen support is needed.
- Massage. We massage the area to spread the product evenly.
After your visit: remember the 5-5-5 rule
Massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days. This helps the product settle smoothly. [Kenz to confirm Peak still uses 5-5-5 or her current protocol]
- Mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising is normal for a few days.
- Ice for the first 24 hours if you’re swollen.
- Skip heavy workouts and facials for 24–48 hours.
- Most patients go right back to work or plans the same day.
Call us if you notice anything that worries you. We’d always rather hear from you.
The investment
Think of it as an investment in your foundation.
Sculptra is priced per vial. How many vials you need depends on your face, how much volume you’ve lost, and your goals. Many patients need 1–2 vials per session across a series. Because results can last 2+ years, the cost per month often compares well to filler that needs topping up more often. [Kenz to confirm vial range and whether the guide shows a starting price or says “quoted at consult”]
At Peak, we never recommend more product to hit a number. Your provider decides what your face actually needs.
Frequently asked questions
Your questions, answered
Does it hurt?
Most patients say it feels like pressure. Sculptra is mixed with numbing medication, and we can add topical numbing too.
Will I look fake or puffy?
No. Sculptra builds your own collagen gradually, so results look like a rested, healthier version of you.
How long until I see results?
Most patients notice a difference around 6–8 weeks, with full results 3–6 months after their series.
How long does it last?
Up to 2 years or more. Most patients maintain with a session about once a year.
Is there downtime?
Very little. Expect some swelling or bruising for a few days. Most people go back to their normal day.
Can I do it with filler or Botox?
Yes. Many of our patients combine all three in one visit for instant results plus long-term support.
Am I too young?
Many patients start in their 30s as prevention. Building collagen early is easier than replacing it later.
What about lumps or bumps?
Nodules are uncommon and are closely tied to technique. This is why experience matters so much with Sculptra, and why we train other providers on it.
Is it FDA-approved?
Yes. Sculptra is FDA-approved for correcting wrinkles and volume loss in the face. [Kenz to confirm exact approved-use wording she’s comfortable with]
Why Peak
You wouldn’t see a nose surgeon who does one nose a week.
Sculptra is a premium product, and it works very differently from “pushing gel into a face.” Getting a beautiful, safe result takes a provider who understands how collagen stimulation behaves under the skin. Too often, patients spend premium money with someone who rarely does it, and they get no result or a complication.
Why patients choose Peak for Sculptra
- Thousands of Sculptra patients treated. This is a core part of what we do every day, not an occasional add-on.
- Close to a decade of experience. We’ve refined our technique over years.
- We teach it. Our team trains other providers and speaks on Sculptra publicly.
- Whole-face approach. We look at how your features work together, so your face ages consistently and naturally.
- One visit, three wins. Combine Sculptra with filler and Botox for instant results plus long-term support.
